Sawdust is operated by Creative Constructs LLC and is currently a closed beta. This describes what the app collects, why, who it goes to, and how to get it back or have it deleted. It is written to be accurate about what the software actually does rather than to be broad enough to cover anything.

What we collect

AccountEmail address, display name, handle. Authentication is handled by Amazon Cognito; we never see or store your password.
PhotosRoom photos you upload, and the redesigned images generated from them.
ProjectsProject titles, notes, updates, plan steps, items and the prices you record, comments, likes and follows.
DeviceA push notification token, if you enable notifications.
ModerationReports you file, and moderation decisions about content you posted.
Beta requestsIf you ask for an invite on joinsawdust.com, the email address you enter and which form you used. It is not tied to an account.

Photos of your home are the most sensitive thing here, and are treated that way.Every uploaded image is decoded and re-encoded before it is ever served, which discards all embedded metadata — including GPS coordinates that phones attach to photos by default. Originals are kept in a separate store with no public read path and are deleted within a day.

Who it is shared with

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. Data reaches these processors because the product needs them to work:

Amazon Web ServicesHosting, database, image storage, and image moderation. Data is stored in the United States.
OpenAIRoom photos, and any description you add, are sent to generate a redesign and to identify objects in it, only after you agree in the app; you can withdraw that in Settings. Submitted text is checked against our content rules. OpenAI does not train on this data and deletes it within 30 days.
SerperProduct search terms, to find purchasable matches for items. No account data is sent.
ExpoPush notification delivery, if you enable notifications.

What other people can see

Projects are private by default. Publishing is a separate, explicit action. An unlisted project is reachable by anyone holding its link. On a published project, other people see your display name and handle — never your email address.

Getting your data, and deleting it

  • Export. You can request a copy of your projects, items, updates and comments, with links to your images.
  • Deletion. You can ask us to delete your account and its content — see Delete your account for exactly what is removed, what is kept, and how to ask.
  • Correction. Profile details are editable in the app.

Image links inside an export expire, so an export is a copy of what you had access to at the time rather than a permanent archive.

Retention

Project content is kept while your account exists. Unprocessed photo originals are deleted within a day. Where content has been reported or moderated, we keep the moderation record so the same decision is not re-litigated; those records do not contain your email address.

Email

We send transactional email only — account verification and password reset. There is no marketing list. If a message to your address hard-bounces or you mark one as spam, your address is suppressed automatically and we stop sending to it.

If you ask for a beta invite, we keep that address so we can send you one. It is used for nothing else, is not added to a marketing list, and is kept until you ask us to delete it at support@joinsawdust.com.

Trade businesses we contact

Sawdust works with trade companies — electricians, plumbers, builders — and we approach them directly. Before a company has any relationship with us we may hold their business details: trading name, trade, service area, business phone, website, a published licence number, and a contact name and business email address. These are business contact details, taken from the company's own public material, and we hold them on the basis of our legitimate interest in offering that company a service. They are never mixed with members' personal data, never used for anything but contacting that company, and never sold or shared for advertising.

A business that asks us through the form on joinsawdust.com/pros gives us its trading name, trade, business phone and business email address. We hold those on the same basis, use them only to reply, and delete them on the same request.

Any preview we build for a company is private, is not indexed, and is reachable only through a link we send them. If a company asks us to delete what we hold, we delete the record and everything in it — write to support@joinsawdust.com. We also delete it ourselves after twelve months with no contact.

Children

Sawdust is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this changes materially during the beta we will say so in the app rather than quietly editing this page.
